What post-apocalyptic books do you like to read?

If you’re reading this post, it’s probably because you have the same strange affinity for post-apocalyptic fiction that I have. Because I constantly recommend other apocalyptic books which depict various SHTF events, I thought it might be interesting to turn the table around and ask you what are your favorites.

So, here are the results, albeit a little slow, from my first reader’s survey (done last month) where I asked my VIP Readers what were their favorite post-apocalyptic books (mine and other PA authors).

First, I asked about my books:

Reader-Survey-Results-030816

Next I asked for one or two of their favorite post-apocalyptic books. Here they are in order of the number of votes each received, with links to each book (or first book of a series):

One Second After by William Forstchen – I agree the top vote getter was a good one!
Stone Age ML Banner – Okay, I think you’re sucking up to the author here… But thanks!
The Defiant Series John W. Vance – It’s in my TBR.
The Survivors Series by Angela White – Ditto.
The Stand By Stephen King – Yeah, this is a classic that must be read!
Lucifer Hammer by Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle
Atlantic Gene (The Origin Mystery Series) by A G Riddle – Loved it!
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Series by W.J Lundy
Lights Out by David Crawford
299 Days: The Preparation by Glen Tate
Arisen Series by Michael Stephen Fuchs & Glynn James
The Legend of Zero by Sara King
The Extinction Cycle by Nicholas Sansbury Smith
Blue Plague Series by Thomas A. Watson
The McClane Apocalypse Series by Kate Morris,
The Alone Series by Darrell Maloney
Please note: if you voted and you didn’t see your favorite listed here, it’s because you didn’t give me the full title of a book (and I couldn’t find it).

Don’t see your favorite(s) here? Go ahead and this list of favorite post-apocalyptic books, by writing it in your comments below.

Sorry I’m late. Another great series is A Distant Eden by Lloyd Tackitt

    1. ML Banner says:

Thanks Lloyd. That’s a new one for me. It looks interesting because it’s proposes a solar storm that knocks out power in 2012. Of course 2012 is when a large solar storm did in fact occur that missed us by only seven days. If it had happened only seven days later (I believe) we’d be experiencing this very apocalypse now… Assuming we survived this long.

  2. Mindy McGinnis – Not a Drop to Drink and In a Handful of Dust. Little House on the Prairie meets The Road.

Oh, add the Road while you’re about it. 😉

Stand and Lucifer’s Hammer are both awesome for older books.

    1. ML Banner says:

Robert, I completely agree with the Road. Cormac Mccarthy has a bizarre writing style, but I loved his book. I’ve seen McGinnis’s books, but hadn’t yet tried them.

BTW, check out James Well’s comment below.

I recommend checking out Deserted Lands by Robert L Slater. The first volume is All Is Silence: Desert Lands Book I (Deserted Lands 1)

    1. ML Banner says:

      I second that comment James!

      1. So cool. Thanks, James and M.L.

  4. Mardene says:

Why can I not find Remnants?

    1. ML Banner says:

Hello Mardene. CICADA: Remnants hasn’t come out yet. It was delayed and the current plan is to release it sometime in the summer. I’ll post when and where on this website and via email to subscribers. Thanks for your interest and your patience.

  5. Cherie Parks says:

Anything by Jacqueline Druga! And you must read Angela Whirr’s series; it definitely isn’t the usual kind of series! I adore the Stand as well.
